frequently asked questions

how do young people become involved in CWYTS projects?

All CWYTS activities are promoted through school Career Advisers and relevant community agencies and interagencies within the Central Tablelands, Bathurst/Orange and Lachlan regions. Events and activities held outside of the school environment are advertised in relevant local media.

how do industries and businesses generally become involved in CWYTS projects?

Young people who need to undertake a mandatory work placement as part of their HSC will nominate preferences to the Structured Workplace Learning Coordinators as to the businesses in which they wish to complete the work placement. Should the students preference not already be part of the Coordinators database of host employers, the Coordinator will approach the business on the students behalf to become a host employer. If the employer agrees to host the student, the Coordinator produces a package of information for the employer and performs a brief induction. Industries and businesses are also approached on a needs basis for Career and Transition Support projects, including for mock interviews and industry tours. Should a business or industry have an idea to engage young people and encourage career pathways into their industry CWYTS is always more than happy to hear them! Visit the ‘contact us’ page should you wish to discuss any project ideas.

what about safety?

All CWYTS staff have undergone Federal Police checks and working with children checks. The CWYTS staff are trained to perform the activities that they undertake and complete risk assessments on events and activities.

Students completing mandatory work placement are covered by their schools insurance policy once the work placement paper work is signed by the school, employer and parents.
