7/09/2007 - A.I.M. Program - Molong Central School
Achievement, Interest & Motivation Program
Molong Central School was successful in their application to CWYTS for funding to run the A.I.M (Achievement, Interest & Motivation) Program.
Eight students were selected to participate over a period of two weeks in a number of activities including cooking on budget, healthy eating, responsibility of owning and owing money on a credit card, self motivation and ongoing health and financial issues with smoking and drinking.
Molong Central School was most appreciative of the wonderful support from the following business people. Mrs Karen Hobbs from Williams Machin spoke to the students on the cost and legal responsibilities of setting up or sharing a flat. Ms Rozzi Smith, editor of the Molong Express discussed motivation, employers expectations in the workplace and goal setting. Mrs Mary Ewin from Molong Community Health took our students on a tour of the supermarket to discuss healthy eating habits. Mrs Jackie Christopherson spoke to the students on the medical repercussions of smoking and drinking. Ms Ebony Oxenham (former Molong Central Student) gave a first hand account of setting up a business, the importance of attending school on a consistent basis and the need to study. Mr Ben Hubbard gave an insight into the financial world of credit and debt.
These highly knowledgable business people gave their time and expertise to assist these students with informative life skills that will help them achieve their goals and ambitions in their everyday life.
The AIM program concluded with the students preparing a lunch, menu chosen, ingredients purchased and cooked by them, all on a budget.
